If I was way too skinny, Jack Skellington, form Tim Burtons Nightmare before Christmas.
Or shave my beard, get a highly conservative suit, button down shirt, grey tie, and go to door and warn people of the joys of accounting.
But this is the Land of Oz (down under, not the Wizard of..) so we dont go in for this redressed ancient pagan tradition much.
We are already under attack for christmas junk.

Third Division Captain Ichimaru Gin from Bleach. Put that hakama to good use. ;)

A Transit Supervisor. :(
Second year in a row I've had to work that night.
For years (decades, actually) I always dressed as Count Dracula, and handed out candy to the small bands of hoodlums demanding protection money...
Er, I mean, the little darlings out Trick-or-Treating.
I even had custom-made fangs that snapped onto my teeth, and that I could talk, sing, and eat while wearing.
Last year my nephew took over for me; not sure what his schedule is this year.

Why dress up? Get arrested for public indecency by claiming all costumes are commercial.

A friend of mine once went to a Halloween party dressed in normal clothing, but he carried a box of Corn Flakes that he had impaled with a butcher's knife.
He told everyone he was a "cereal killer."

You've opted to sell the Ninja out by dressing as their arch foes? What would the dear Dr. have to say about that?
Be well,

Assuming I actually decide to go somewhere in costume this year (which is debateable at this point), I'll either go as some sort of Renaissance-era swordsman, or Alex the Droog from Clockwork Orange.

I guess I'll take the kids out this year. They take after their Mom by the way ...
I'll be dressed as a slightly overweight, overworked, balding, middle-aged father of two children, handing our candy to the urchins who come to our door.
That, or I was thinking of buying a big old pair of Depends adult diapers and answering the door in nothing else. That should really scare the little buggers!

Hey Brian,
Sounds like my costume for this year. I'm going as the most terrifying creature known to humankind:
An overworked, 30 year-old, frayed-nerve dilettante (read: has way too many !@#! interests so he has a hard time focusing on just one thing) College Student!
I 've always imagined myself going as Snape (Harry Potter), but this year, well, let's just say that I, uh, 'lack the hair for it'.
I'm not gonna be roped into handing out candy at the parent's house, either. I've got more important things to go to...like an organ recital. Too bad. The little kids in the next house (2 and 5, respectively) always look so cute in their costumes.
Yes, I guess I'm just a softy at heart. So sue me.

My daughter just informed me that they purchased a knife to 'stick' in my head. I guess I didn't learn my disarm techniques well enough!

Sounds like you guys got your plans worked out pretty good, other than handing out candy in my hakama with my iaito I cant figure out what to do! I want to go to a teen type party but the problem with that is, either booz fireworks or drugs get involved somehow, and I like to stay as sane as possible and just have fun on occasions like this :)

I thought I might go dressed as a bureaucrat who gives a f***.
The problem is, I can't figure out what that would look like.

My partner always hassles me to wear my hakama etc. to halloween parties, but I never do, as I feel it would be kind of disrespectful to my training gear and my school.
Maybe Im just too uptight, but I know some damn drunk fool is going to spill a drink on it.
Actually I was meant to go to a halloween party on saterday night. Got home from work, collapsed into bed and slept for 12 straight hours...best halloween party ever.
2 weeks left of my degree....sleep is rarer than a pirate in a ninjutsu dojo....
best regards,

It is already the afternoon of the 31st here in Japan. I just got through teaching all the third through sixth graders about Halloween and this is what it looked like.

Not really "dressed up" but I am chilling in my jinbe that I got in Japan. A sort of leisure wear that is really better in the summer, but it's comfy around the house. I wear it a bunch samhain or not.
And if I run out for beer or candy in it, I won't look too weird for once. :)
