Hey guys, I'm new here. Made an account back in september but never had a chance to post anything. I hope this is an alright forum to introduce myself, if not just tell me and I'll move this post.
My name is Jeremy Bartlett, I'm a student and aspiring boxer/police officer from Ontario, Canada.

Do you know Matt Rogers, of Toronto?
Best wishes.

You're kidding, right?
It's difficult to sense sarcasm over the internet, but I think I just got a strong vibe that that was a small taste of it.

Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.
Ya never know with these 'murricans...
Hey, 'tis a small world.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and live in New York City.
Last year I went to a training camp in West Virginia.
When I introduced myself to a Canadian group, and said my grandfather was from Howe Island, one woman said "Hey, Grandpa Pickett used to run the ferry there!"
We had each travelled miles from our homes to run into someone whose ancestors were from the same patch of ground in the Saint Lawrence.

Yeah, but it's a running joke here in Canada with Americans who have no clue how big the country is. "Oh, you're from Vancouver? Do you know Bob Smith in Toronto?"
Of course the frustrating thing is when you actually do know Bob.
yes, I've been asked if I know people who live in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston - Hey we're all on the same coast, why shouldn't we know each other ? :)

From me?
Cause I ask one Canadian if he knows another?
Well, you guys are in the same province...you're both members of e-budo...I figure you must have some interest in martial arts...Matt runs a good group in Toronto... his teacher is famous...
Now if I had said, "Do you know a guy named "Matt" who lives in Candada, too?" I could see where you might think it was sarcastic.
Anyway, if you're from Ontario and interested in martial arts and you don't know Matt Rogers, please look him up. He will help you.

When I was looking for a job in Shizuoka, a friend said "Don't bother with the Japan Times. They only have Tokyo jobs in there.
But I found an ad for a teacher in Shizuoka. I had to go to Tokyo to be interviewed, but when I got there, I was interviewed by a guy who had not only recently come from Birmingham, but had worked for the same company I had just left and had even worked directly with my supervisor.
Small world, indeed.

Y'all need to stop complaining. In the South, when people say, "Oh, you're from Mississippi, you must know this person," it usually turns out that we not only know them, but are related. Sometimes on both sides of the family.
Oddly enough, when I was in Tokyo, I ended up on a train with another gaijin from about forty minutes north of where I'm sitting right now. He makes the drive to this town fairly often to visit some of the local diners. He was with a Japanese coworker who wasn't too familiar with the Sobu line, so I ended up giving them directions.

Anyone ever heard of the Kevin Bacon game?
People of the world are but five simple steps away from each other...

I saw your first post on the thread all by itself and thought I would let you know we weren't ignoring you.
Hope you find what you're looking for on e-budo.
Best wishes,
