Greetings,

I think your questions could have been enumerated or you could have a 'poll' set up, E-Budo used to provide that feature. In the meanwhile I hope responses from across the 'pond' help you, if so here are my answers to your 12 questions:

Male
50+
Chi Do Kwan Korean Karate & Self Defense
Yes
Journal of Asian Martial Arts, Classical Fighting Arts
Bad

Serious historical research articles, non-profit MA and MA physical mechanics research articles
MA Personality articles and 'My Style is Better Than Your Style' articles

Male

21-30

Wing Chun, Muay Thai & mutiple Korean styles.

Used to buy Combat and Martial Arts Illustrated but they have gone down hill since they all just have bum licking the XMA and big head nobodies.

neutral (due to them publishing nothing new)

3 (due to movie media, westernisation and frauds)

6 (good for entertainment but not for showcasing multiple styles as what it was in the beginning)

Depends how good it was, if it was good then £2 - £3

No, I like to see if anything is relivent before purchase otherwise I might end up buying a mag full of ground fighting which I don't want to read about.

Articles of interest, getting back to traditions and tracing old styles to the current seniors, also a bit of bad mouthing some of the Bad Budo out there. I mean the Fuma Ryu (very fake Ninja organisation) got in Combat magazine a little while ago with no question of who they were!! How stupid do you get?!?

The above

Hope this helps mate :)

Bad budo as real budo. ninja... any ninja.

On second thoughts, just bring back furyu.

1. Male

2. 31-40

3. Mostly BJJ

4. Yes, occasionally

5. Fighters Only; Fighters (& Kickboxing News – or whatever it’s called these days); Grappling

6. Neutral

7. 2. Fighters Only is probably raising the game as far as mainstream availability, distribution and production values.

8. 10.

9. 2-3, although 3-4 seems to be more the going rate for monthlies.

10. If I liked it a lot, then yes.

11. Aside from in-depth coverage of the arts I most enjoy, it would have to have good, professional design and production values (no toilet paper!); excellent writing; level-headed opinions and analysis; No hype; no thinly-veiled-self-agrandissement or soke-self-promotion; no kiddy/XMA/mcdojo stuff.

12. See above. Sadly, I just don't think there's a big enough market to sustain a quality, British MA magazine. Even Fighters Only seems to be struggling after a strong launch.

Good luck with the coursework.

You know a comparison between American and British readership interests probably wouldn't hurt your AS marks, provided you made it explicit. Especially as the British media is dominated with American music and films. Just a thought.
