Iron Chef love!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to know, What is the General concensus on Iron Chef? I just can't seem to get enough of it. The crappy part is that I hardly ever get to see it. And what are peoples feelings about Japan taking it off the air except for those occasional specials.....

Iron Chef (or "Ryouri no Tetsujin", as it is referred to here) is definitely a great show--the only thing that irritates me about it is the fact that the judges are Japanese talento who wouldn't understand the subtle complexities of the food they are so privileged to taste if they came up and bit them on the ketsu. I really think they should include some professional food critics on the panel...

As addictions go, this one is cheap. I like the fact that the judges are amateurs, the ditzy actresses are really funny. The fortune teller who is frequently on the show is a very good food critic.

Also, the show once had the Zagats on and the competition was between the Chinese Iron Chef and a challenger making "new" Japanese cuisine (Japanese pizza with sea urchin - ulp!). It was fantastic and hilarious because the ingredient was sea urchin, which is not used in Szechuan cooking. :)

I liked where Chen had to use Foie Gras in Scezhuan dishes... good stuff, good stuff...
