I guess you all got the email at some point. There is a scam letter saying that MSN are going to charge it's users for the use of Hotmail, their online email service. Well on the BBC website, they have a story regarding the scam email and how it all came about.

In 2001, when the dot com bubble burst, Microsoft was wondering how to make money. An idea was put forward to charge a small fee for the Hotmail users. Fortunatly for us it never came to be. So that idea was shelved. But 5 years on, the mail saying that MSN and Microsoft are going to charge still reamins.

One link in the email is to the BBC website from 2001. But as they have changed their format and navigation for their pages, people are still being fooled into believing MSN and Microsoft are still going to charge.

Other scams are on Yahoo messenger and is distributed through the Yahoo IM saying the same thing about Yahoo charging. There seems to be a element of the Internet which is believable and the unknowing seem to favor.

So apart from the scams of MSN and Yahoo, and the email that is asking for you to help get some large money from a bank in another country, what other email scams have you been sent?
