My favorite kata. But, I'm curious to know about the other versions of seisan - I have only seem to have found one other person aside from my school and Okinawa that use this version. Your thoughts?

we from the Wado style do Seishan too. Our version is almost similar to Shotokan's hangetsu but the stances and rhythm are different. It's one of our Shiteigata in FAJKO/JKF and WKF competition (the other being Chinto). I like this Kata too, because it is like two Kata in one, the first part features tensioned breathing like Sanchin, and the second part is fast and powerful.

The real issue is, what do those people thing they're doing, when they perform seisan -- ie, what do the movements mean? Do you know?

I can't speak for other people, but when I perform my Seisan kata, I know how the techniques are applied.
