Kickboxing causes brain damage? No kidding. Repeated blows to the head seems to make people after years of that type of thing, seem to have lower intelligence.
But anything can damage the body. High fatty foods causes you to have heart attacks and weight gain. Smoking causes cancer. So basically living can be unhealthy.
So in the words of a UK newspaper: NSS. No **** Sherlock. We know what we are doing so this report is just pointing out what we already known for years.
(BTW, I placed them nice stars in so I am not swearing and having the filter kick in :p )

Just 1 thing: the research done by the team at Erciyes University Medical School in Turkey is, at its very best, saying nothing at all. i.e. it's rubbish. Look at the size of the group they used : measured the levels of these hormones in 22 amateur kickboxers (16 men and six women) and compared these to healthy people of the same age and sex.
now, I'm not a math teacher, but statistically, this proves nothing. They might as well have guessed for the results instead...seriously, this kind of thing is done all the time by the media ( believe me, i study journalism and they teach us all the tricks... ) which creates in some cases false ideas/faulty rumours etc. In this case, they're probably right and kickboxing is probably rather unhealthy...(i mean look at boxing...) but we don't know for sure, scientifically speaking.
In short: research is only believable/thrustworthy when a large enough group is involved that can be seen as representative for a larger group (in this case, all kick boxing amateurs as well as pro's)
Sorry for the rant, just had to voice this... :)
Thanks for reading, C.
