Unable to register new account?

Hi,

my friend would like to register himself here, but when he clicks on the register link, he gets "Registration denied by the administrator" - even before he gets to type in his name and password and other info.

I tried to log out, and test register new account and it happened to me also :-(

Is it some sort of error and could this be fixed?

As far as I know there are no issues since July 2007. Are there any issues going on?
