Hi all.

The idea of this thread is to inform members of new developments and updates to websites with Shorinji Kempo content, including the Hombu site.
Try to keep the general discussion in this thread to a minimum, if any of the sites warrant further discussion then please open a new thread. If you have any Shorinji Kempo site information, including new sites, updates to existing site, or even mention of Shorinji Kempo on any website, then please use this thread rather than opening multiple new threads.

The idea is to keep this thread 'at the top' by constantly adding to it.

OK so I will be first out on this.

I have just recently made some updates on the Swedish Federation homepage (A big change with new layout 3 weeks ago and some more things a week ago).

I always find this site interesting http://homepage1.nifty.com/shorinji/engindex.htm it is constantly updated, of particular interest is the "Illustrated techniques" section.

I would have to agree with that...great page. It'll be a fantastic resource if it ever comes close to being finished. I also find the Japanese festivals page interesting, and the embu videos.

(and the cartoons are so cute!)

John.

May be a problem with the file, will not open correctly for me (Anders any problem opening it?)

I can't open it either. I get an Acrobat Reader error message that says "There was an error processing a page. The encoding (CMap) specified by a font is missing or corrupted."

I have my browser set up to recognize Japanese fonts so I don't think that is the problem. Is this the same problem others are having?

Looks like I got beaten by a few minutes, posting about the new newsletter. Anyways...

About the encoding error from Acrobat, I used to get that. It went away after I installed the Japanese font package for Acrobat. Available at:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/cjkfontpack.html

For this newsletter No.4, though, I had some problems displaying the first page for some reason. The work around was to download the pdf file first to my computer, rather than trying to open it through the brower plug-in.

I hope this helps.

Hi.

I believe it is as Karahashi-san says. I can't open the last file of the Newsletter in the computer I use at work, but it is no problem at home.
Same thing with the earlier Newsletters, I get a message of a missing font, but at home this is OK.

I have also installed the Japanese fonts for Acrobat, so I guess this is what you have to do.

I have also, several times, informed Hombu about this problem that many people have, I did it again today.

But Hombu seem to have difficulties to understand the problem since it doesn't occur if you have the Japanese fonts etc. installed.
I hope that they will fix this since I believe that the average kenshi (outside of Japan that is) doesn't have Japanese fonts installed and don't know very much about computers.

There are also a lot of other things that are not managed in a very good way on the WSKO Homepage. My opinion is that they should ask English-speaking kenshi to help out with the maintaining of the WSKO Website.

Thank you Yoshi

Got the Japanese support package and it now opens fine.

My happiness was however a little marred by the news of Bando sensei's passing away (see other thread).

Thanks & Kesshu,

I don't know but I cannot think of any place but current day Russia that parallels the chaos that a defeated Japan faced when Doshin So was repatriated.

Iraq also comes to mind.
