Then again, there are times when I miss the trolls. There was such a satisfying feeling that came from pointing out their stupidity.

Heh. A valid concern, but at least the trolls would have been off the net either way.

Though there have been more than a few posters-- defenders of certain famous frauds come to mind-- that really made me want to ask, "Did you read your post? Do you know what it says? Does it make any sense to you? If so, can you explain it to the rest of us?"

Can anybody tell me what the best samurai sword I can buy for less than $200 is? My friends and I practice kenjitsu. We've sparred with bokken and kendo armor, but we don't think we can get the proper weight and feel without a real sword. Plus, that's the way ancient samurai like Miyamoto Musashi trained. I read Hanshi 10th Dan Stephen Kaufmann's great translation of "The Book of Five Rings" and only by facing this danger can we really create our own bushido, like Musashi did.

I asked about this over at Swordforum.com and all I got was a bunch of crap about finding a real kendo instructor. Give me a break! I want to learn real kenjitsu, not kendo! And it's not like we don't know how to fight. I have a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and two years of BJJ.

I've tried a bunch of other arts, but they don't work. All they want to do is kata, but you can't learn real bushido from kata! It's like Bruce Lee said: forms limit you! Kata doesn't work. Iaido doesn't work. Aikido doesn't work. Shorinji Kempo doesn't work. And I've found the best defense is to block edge-to-edge while sitting in seiza.

Sorry, Josh. You're closer-- you get a lot of the basic themes correct-- but the overall narrative of your post is still far too comprehensive and the poster sounds a little bit too intelligent. Still, that might be as close as a person with an IQ higher than his show size can come to mimicking troll behavior.

Sounds like a newbie over on Kendo World rather than a troll. They'd either get around to following our advice and end up thanking us, or leave to sulk because we were not trying to help them.
