Minasan,
Kon'nichiwa.

It is with the utmost joy and pride that we anounce the succession of Tsumaki Kazuo Genwa Soshi to the postion of 15th Soke of Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu. The formal announcement was made at the Genwakai All-Member Practice on April 29, 2009, and was made public on the Genwakai website on April 30, 2009. Below is a translation of the Aisatsu (Formal Greeting) that appears beneath Soke Sensei's picture on the Gewnakai main homepage:

“At this time, having taken over the duties of Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu 14th Soke Tsumaki Seirin Genshin following his death, I have succeeded to 15th Soke based on the tradition of the mysteries of an art being handed down from father to son.
I took instruction in the teachings of Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu from my father and, as Fuku Soke (Assistant Headmaster) assisted the previous Soke and began making efforts for the growth of Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu.
After Soke’s passing, I began supervising the Genwakai as 15th Soshi, but because of a strong demand by all of the members, based on this state of affairs I renewed my determination.
From now on, having carefully protected and fostered my father’s teachings for 40 years, it is my intention to continue handing down traditional Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu to future generations”

Heisei 21, May, Auspicious Day

President, Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu Genwakai
15th Soke Tsumaki Kazuo Genwa

Around the same time as his succession, Soke Sensei and the legal representative of the Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu Genwakai received word that the process of trademaking/copyrighting the name "Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu" had been completed and approved by the Patent Office in Tokyo. This very judicious decision on Soke Sensei's part assures that the name "Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu" will always remain the provenance of the Genwakai and cannot be used by any other organization.

Thank you all for your indulgance in reading this post...it is truly an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Genwakai and watch the living history of a Koryu system evolve as we have over the 2 years since the death of our 14th Headmaster.

Ogenki de,
