I have been having trouble finding a Bokken durable enough to please my needs, I am not looking for a cheap $20 Bokken, yet I do not want anything that will cost me an arm and a leg, perferably something that is very basic yet of high craftsmanship, any help would be deeply appreciated

Try Kiota in Baltimore (Check http://www.aikiweb.com for the address and phone#) I plan on making a large purchase from him when i go there this October or you can have Kim Taylor make on for you if you want to spend a little extra.

Hi Jonathan,
I would recommend getting one from Kim Taylor. I had him make one for me to my specifications out of shagbark hickory. It cost me $50 two years ago, but I have used it very hard for those 2 years (lots of kumitachi) and haven't even had to sand a splinter yet. Well worth the money! Here is his website ... http://sdksupplies.netfirms.com/cat_shinken.htm
Good luck!

Try Bugei Trading Company for some very reasonably priced bokken, I've gotten several from them over the years and have enjoyed them a lot.

i have had the same white oak bokken that i bought from kwon for a year now. i use it with moderate to heavy contact, and it barely has a dent in it. i swear by that bokken.
go to http://www.kwonusa.com it's about sixty bones.
