Sadly Ohtsuyama San left the Ryu some years ago with three others. They came to my house to ask me to go with them and give them credibilty. At that time and as I still do, I valued "giri' to my shihan to be of far more importance that becoming singularly famous. Japanese are groupy people but will sometimes go to great lengths to form a group even if its just a President, Chairman and secretary. Kageryu as other ryu is 'Not hereditory'. really pleased to see he is still practicing. He was actually drawing Yon Shaku I settled for a 3.8. I would rather draw shorter and do it well. Ohtsuyama always had to tie his say very loose to get a good draw and sometimes lost it. Not that it matters! These are methods to be used witha slung sword and are outside waza. No sitting done, no chiburi etc. We only do O same because there is other waza to show.
Just as general information fundamentals are never shown at Embu. We carefully plan and practice variations of fundamantals. I hope everyone likes the "Maezashi throwing". We normally have to substitute by throwing a fan being surrounded by an audience.
Oh well out into the gardens to do a bit more before the sun gets too high. It's always 28 c here.

Guess I should never complain about using a 2.8 blade. The noto was really interesting. I have never seen it done while grabbing the blade below the tsuba.
