Hi folks,
I am doing a research for my documentary on the history of japanese swords. I need info on the tameshigiri competitions in Japan and the rest of the world.
1.) Apparently, every year somewhere in Japan a traditional tameshigiri competition takes place. It is an event where the best japanese swordsmiths test their katanas and tachis, with the help of the experienced swordsmen. This competition dates back to the feudal times and it helps preserving the oldfashion art of swordmaking. Does anybody knows more about this tradition ?
2.) Any information on the most reputable tameshigiri events in California, US and the rest of the world.
I will very much appreciate any lead or info. Thank you in advance.
