    Default Year of the Dog

    Hi Everyone,
New Years is always a good time to rededicate to training.
Like last year I am going to concentrate on the zodiac animal of the year.

Kojo ryu has a dog kamae chiseigan. Mark Bishop's book Okinawan karate gives us some incite into it's function."...Chiseigan kamae is used against an opponent who attacks with his legs; all one has to do is kamae, wait until the opponent kicks, then move in and throw him."
    In the Bubishi:
7-9 PM is dog time with specific points to strike, aligned with pericardium meridian and use specific medicines.
Lastly, dog boxing, Fukein Chinese not Okinawan but I found this interesting thought in Pat McCarthy's Bubishi "Dog boxing, or perhaps better known as ground boxing, also uses Saam Chien and Sanseiru among others."
I can certainly work on a few simple dog boxing drills 9and my sanchin).
Although I am posting in karate I am curious what other Japanese Martial Arts have dog techniques.

    Thanks for any ideas.

    Interesting topic.

The Year of the Dog will begin on February 16, 2018 of the Gregorian calendar. The Year of the Dog's element is Earth, and the energy is Yang.

In the zodiac calendar those born in the specific year have the fine qualities of human nature. In the Martials arts and karate techniques. The biggest name Fyre. He is the inspiration of many Martial arts fighters with his skills.
