Because I voted "other" I probably should specify it.
The karatestyle I practice is called Nihon karatedou Genwakai
(in japanese: “ú–{‹óŽè“¹Œº˜a‰ï)

Umh...must ask if Shorin/Shorinji -branch is so small that it often gets unnoticed in these kind of threads...
Not trolling or flaming, just asking.

Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do

Japanese Goju Ryu.
Also elements of Chinese MA (Tai Chi) Filipino (escrima is our first kobudo element) and anything else that works. My sensei is generally a traditionalist (at least, that's MY impression) but is not totally fixated on it, and will adapt and incorporate anything that is appropriate/workable.

I can think of several styles not listed.
Steve Beale
Yeah brother! The weird thing is that the majority of styles listed are highly influenced by the Shorin school(s). Oh well, whatever. That's the reason a lot of Shorin ryu guys have an intense loyalty to their art! Somebody's got to give it props. Especially since most styles of modern karate, Korean or Japanese, "bit" our stylee!!! Te (Shuri or Naha), history should be a fundamental part of any real dojos curriculum...Originally posted by Jussi Häkkinen

Oh yea! The only problem with that is, then all these Soke would have a difficult time passing on their false lineage.

Just standing up and being counted.
Go Jyu Ryu

Yep, and the practice goes on!!!
Kosho Ryu is my main style.
Wing Chun as a supplementary style/extra learning.
Shuri Ryu
The other catagory is more than twice the count as the number two style polled. Perhaps you should of listed more of the different styles to get a more informative poll.
Hahaha! No doubt sir! Never even thought of that! Great point, hahahaha!!!Originally posted by Budoka 34

My Karate style and main current style of organized training is Korean Tang Soo Do or Soo Bahk Do, I think Moo Duk Kwan.
Jesse Peters
Is Tang Soo Do a style of karate?
It has Pinans, Naihanchis, and Bassai. I think of it as Korean Shorin-ryu.
Jesse Peters
You are correct sir. Very similar... Pinan's 1 and 2 are reversed, 1 being 2 and 2 being 1. Kind of makes since since Pinan Shodan is the more difficult of the two.Originally posted by the Khazar Kid
