Default Looking for info on instructor

A friend has moved to Raliegh-Durham area and is looking for info about a teacher there.

"Does anyone know anything about Gil Fitts and his aikibudo dojo in Durham? He's studied with Seigo Okamoto sensei, and he's studied some Yoshokai, AAA, and other Aikikai."
    Appreciate any info!

Well, all I can say is that it fits in the "anything" category:

There is a Gil Fitts in Durham, NC that is involved in breeding of Giant Schnauzers. His e-mail address is: gfitts1@aol.com .

Might be the same guy, you could e-mail and if it is the same guy, try to get a feel for him.

I hope our mutual friend finds a good place in Durham (and finds a job soon).

Gil Fitts is, I believe, associated with the Yoshinkan. I believe he spent some time with Yukio Utada (7th dan, Yoshinkai) in Phila., and he may be considering becoming a part of the Aikido Assoc. of North America headed by Utada Sensei. I have seen both Gil and his brother at clinics that Utada Sensei has given in Phila., and I believe him to be a forthright and skilled practitioner. I would definately recommend training with him for a time to see if his instruction and students fit your needs.

    Default Durham

    Hey Greg!

Thanks for the info and thanks to all who responded. Gil seems to be well-respected in many circles and Margo has said she's going to visit and observe.

    Hi Chuck,

I hope things go well w/ Margo's visit. I caught a quick glimpse of something about it on Aikido-L.

I hope things work out for her in Durham. It's a short haul for me and I have family at Ft. Bragg not too far away.
