Hello,
I'm looking for information, articles, books, resources on the role Shintoism has played in influencing the traditional Japanese dojo.
Any input or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Bernie Lau suggests these books for designing a dojo:
Anderson, L.O. How to Build a Wood-Frame House (New York: Dover Publishers, 1973).
Itoh, Teiji. Kura: Design and Tradition of the Japanese Storehouse (Tokyo: Kodansha, 1973).
Watanabe, Yasutada. Shinto Art: Ise and Izumo Shrines (New York: John Weatherhill, 1974).
Some pictures appear at http://ejmas.com/jcs/jcsart_svinth_1101.htm .

Thanks very much Joseph. I've located two of the mentioned books, and will keep an eye out for the other.

I'm broadening my search to information, books, and articles on the traditional Japanese Dojo (characteristics, influences, philosophy behind, training in, etc.)
Can anyone make any recommedations as to good resources on this broader subject?
Thanks,
John
