Hi,
I'm looking for a dojo for a friend. After discovering aikido in the U.S., she's returning home to Gifu prefecture.
Does anyone have a recommendation for good dojo there?
Regards,

Hi Greg, I happen to be an American living in Ogaki-shi, Gifu-ken. I came here with the naive assumption that I would have no trouble finding Aikido anywhere in Japan. unfortunatly I was wrong. I did find a dojo in Nagoya (Kanayama to be exact). The name is Meirin jyuku. the Sensei is Subue sensei and he has close ties with Endo Shihan. I go every Sunday morning (its all that distance and work permits) and have a really great time. there is a good mix of male-female/young-old/beginner-senior at the dojo. I hope I was able to help. --Matt
Thank you for the information. I'll pass it along right away.

My apologies for reactivating an old thread...
Depending on what association you'd like to practice with, there are options in and around Gifu. Gifu City has Aikikai practices in the Sogo Taikukan, Hakkoryu is done near JR Nishi Gifu Station, Ichinomiya City nearby has Aikikai, Nagoya has Kokikai Aikido near the castle...
