    in reference to the above link, does anyone know the name of the little table in front of the seated samurai?

    This small table is called a Sanbo. It is generally a small, unlacquered table. As the person was about to perform seppuku, he picked up the kozuka (the blade being used) with one hand while his other hand picked up the sanbo and placed it behind and underneath his person...as to orient him in the correct position...leaning slightly forward.

    After the ritual of seppuku was completed, the sanbo was discarded as it was now unclean because of death.
