I applaud this. How many of us complain about frivolous lawsuits and how the lawyers and sue happy people are clogging the system wasting tax payers money with stupid law suits? How many of us bulked at fat people suing airlines and fast food chains. As we know government isn’t immune to such frivolous and wasteful action. With the problems California is having they didn't need another debacle that would waste more time, more money and more public resources. California's actions shows common sense by the court in stopping a nightmare of legal battles that would last for years and cost millions of dollars to tax payers in California and as a preventive measure for other states. Here is where the Government did something right.
We are talking about states that have opposition to homosexual marriage and how much it would cost tax payers to fight such a battle, despite the outcome. To engage in such a battle over a minority group means some one has to pay for it. That is by increasing taxes or taking away from other programs or services to pay all the expensive lawyers and weigh heavily on court resources. Essentially, who is paying for this luxury or privilege of homosexual marriage, all of us. I see it as another reason for my taxes to go up into something I will not benefit from or society. I want my tax money to fix Social Security, improve schools, and other essential public programs or services.
I wondering how much Massachusetts' tax payers paid and are going paying to have homosexual marriage! How much will it take from state resources, and other programs to intiate it, to implement it, and to maintain it, that is to say the least. And think of the law suit that will follow with digruntled marriages. At what cost does same-sex marriages burned the states economy? Or take away from more pressing issues like the economy and job loss.
How much will taxes thier increase? 1%, 3%, even that is a strain on the tax payer are in a troubled and weary economy. Would the state be better off putting money into restoring lost jobs? I think so. By putting money into restoring lost jobs for example is benefitical to everyone and not just to a select minority.
Funny, I don't see figures on how much it is going to cost Mass. and we know that Ca. saved a bundled. But I do see figures on things like on a failing Social Security program, the cost of war, and cost of lost jobs among other things. I would like to see the bottom line cost to tax-payers in money and in resourse per state just to pass a same-sex marriage law. I would like to see what the cost of it is now for Mass. tax-payers.
When it comes to sexual preference, I guess money is no object. Especially, when I have to pay for it.
