UNM Student Missing; Police Seek Help
Detective: No Foul Play Suspected Yet

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A world champion martial artist and University of New Mexico honor student is missing.

Kyle Foster was last seen a week ago, and Albuquerque police are searching for clues as to his whereabouts.

"We don't suspect foul play at this time," said Detective Al Velarde.

Foster last used his credit card at Tuesday morning at The Frontier, then filled his car at a nearby gas station.

"There's nothing unusual about the amounts or the locations," Velarde said.

Friends have put fliers up around campus, asking people for help.

"He has so many people who care for him. We just want to find him safe at home," said Jessica Bickel, his girlfriend.

Ray Barrera has been Foster's martial arts instructor since Foster was a little boy. He described the student as "just an outstanding young man."

Barrera said Foster was also "a great role model."

Foster was behind the wheel of a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada SUV. His license plate number is 339-LMF. Anyone with information about Foster or the vehicle is asked to contact police at 242-COPS.

The body of Kyle Foster, a 22-year-old University of New Mexico student, was found by a family member Thursday morning in the Jemez Mountains near Gilman, State Police said.
