Japanese Swords in London
Hello all,
Does anybody know of places in London that have a good collection of Japanese swords available for the public to view? I'm thinking in particular of museums etc.
I'm hoping to buy a sword soon and would like to learn more about them before I do so. I found the To-ken society of Great Britain home page. They used to have monthly meetings in London but apparently have stopped doing so.
Many thanks,
Gerard

The British Museum is currently (Sep. 30, 2004 through Feb. 17, 2005) showing 100 blades from its collection. Price is right -- free.

Pitt-Rivers, Victoria and Albert, and Royal Armouries also have extensive collections, but whether they are on display is something you'd have to ask.
And, if you're wandering about town, here's a one-stop shopping source -- http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Palace/1135/sights.html . NOTE: There are links there to online exhibits from the British Museum, so worth checking even if you're not in UK.

You're a typical bloody foreigner - you know more about what's happening in London than the English do.
