Is the guy on the right holding a pimp cane in his left hand?
Those pictures remind me of when I came across a group of kids dressed up like vampires (not the Count Chocula type, think Wesley Snipes in Blade) hitting each other with shinai outside of the main campus of a local community college. Nothing wrong with a little imagination and play, in my opinion. Problem is, some casual observer asked one of them what they were doing, and they replied "it's called Kendo, it's Japanese swordsmanship". Even as an aikidoka that turned my stomach, but I resisted the urge to interrupt the discussion that I wasn't a part of. I can only hope that they don't ever have to get disabused of their innocent claim to be practicing Kendo by an actual kendoka.

No, no, no - they are playing croquet, and the guy in red is upset that his ball has just been smacked into the bushes.Originally posted by ulvulv

Doesn't "Lung Tsu" sound Chinese?
Makes me laugh every time I see McDojo like these. Do they think they are legitimate? I'd love to go down and speak with the "sensei".

This isn't "kwestionable kenjutsu" - it's pictures from the evening course on how to throw sticks to your dog!

I absolutely love the guy on the far left. Is the obi necessary to hold up the sweatpants? Did he lose the drawstring?

I guess they are practicing classical Chinese swordsmanship-- even though their domain name has "americankenjutsu" in it. While their garb may appear ridiculous to those initiated into the Japanese style arts, I get the feeling that they are doing the best they can with what they know and the instruction available to them. Judging by the photo taken outside of the training facility (I can't bring myself to call it a dojo), I'd say they aren't exactly near any big cities. Personally, I can't bring myself to laugh at that. The guys dressed up like ninja and the guy with the pimp cane in the first picture, however? I'm embarrassed for them.

I'd wager it's a sword pimp cane

The site does mention that they teach Chen style Tai Chi, which does include the use of the jian. Now don't ask about the quality of the technique, but it's not meant to be kenjutsu (I hope!).

These clowns are actually well known in the Gulf Coast area, and we've had dealings with some of their students in the past. Actually there is a good Jikishinkai affiliated iai group at our dojo here in Pensacola, as well as US Kendo Federation kendo group that teaches at our place on Wensdays and is based out of Ft. Walton. Actually my "relationship" with these guys goes back to when I first moved down here and my best friend was trying to actually teach them real kendo. Long story, and he posts on here sometimes, so maybe he could tell it, but trust me, these guys seriously think they do actual JSA. Or in their parlance ASA I suppose. They even claimed to be intrusctors of the Niten ryu style.
