One of the guys from my club wants to get a Jidai.jp iaito. Any reviews now that (if) you've received them?
Hey, don't forget Nosyuiaido/Cutting Edge Technologies. I have one of their iaito and I love it. Excellent value for the money, too.

Just wondering, in a few months I think I'll have to be in 'thinking about getting first iaito mode', and I was wondering about anyone's experiences with the Nyumon Jidae Koshirae (pictured at http://www.e-bogu.com/Nyumon_Jidai_K...nyumon--.htm)?
I note that the combination package at e-bogu includes the Delux Jidae, but I see that it's been reported as having balance problems.
Comments? Suggestions (yes, I'll get sensei's advice before taking any final action)?

Tosh Kirita over at www.samurai-store.com has a nice selection of well-made and immenently usable iaito at reasonable prices. I have one of his Tensho model "B" iaito, and it turned out to be much nicer than even the advertisements on his site stated.
I am a very raw beginner in the JSA, and it is standing up to my beginner's mistakes quite admirably. It's nicely weighted and balanced, the wrap is tight and well executed, and the fittings are flawless. The saya is very clean and solidly made, and the sword/saya taken individually, or as a unit are free from rattles, yet only bind when my poor technique is the root cause. It's a decidedly utilitarian sword, but that is my preference. He has more eye-catching pieces available as well as custom options available as upgrades.
On top of it all, I couldn't have asked for any more pleasant or speedy customer service or shipping than I got from him. Granted, my sword was in stock at the time that I ordered, but I had it in hand in the US from Japan within a week the order going through. He very patiently and thoroughly answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns to my complete satisfaction.
Just submitted for what it's worth.....
Good luck in your search for the right blade for your needs.

It is a serviceable beginner iaito. For about the same money, I much preferred the Meirin Hongashirae iaito offered by Mugendo Budogu ... http://budogu.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/page63.htmlJust wondering, in a few months I think I'll have to be in 'thinking about getting first iaito mode', and I was wondering about anyone's experiences with the Nyumon Jidae Koshirae (pictured at http://www.e-bogu.com/Nyumon_Jidai_...-nyumon--.htm)?
While still an entry level iaito, the wrap, fit, and finish were better.
In the one Delux Jidae that I've seen, the balance was pretty good. I still think the Hongashirae was a better iaito though.I note that the combination package at e-bogu includes the Delux Jidae, but I see that it's been reported as having balance problems.
