There is only one way the rapeist will probably find out that the device is in place, and buy then, it's already done it's work. And once the device has done it's work, the rapeist will no longer be in the mood for any further rapeing, and will be too preoccupied with pain the think about a beating.

I think Jock made an interesting point about the neibours. The best defence we have is to all be virulent and take care of each other. Another good reason to learn MA.

    Default again...statistically sound.

...actually the most common responses on this thread are just a mirror of the typical male response in society at large.

    which are:
    1. There is no female input in the whole of this discussion.
    2. she'll get beat and,
    3. carry a gun.

Rape is a power play. Beatings are a part of that culture and often precede or follow the assault.

    Default This seems good but

    * Women have a constitutional right to feel safe in their homes, community and country, and this device creates the perception that women are to be responsible for their own safety. A woman thus has the responsibility to ensure that she is not raped. Why are we not asking why men rape and why are we not focusing on what must be done to stop men from raping?
    * This device will not protect you from being raped as the device is only activated once the penis enters the vagina.
    * There are different kinds of rape including oral rape and anal rape. Women are also raped with a range of objects and are gang-raped. This device will not help women who are raped in these ways.
    * This device will make women vulnerable to violent reactions from the rapist and the potential of being violently harmed or killed is enhanced. The possibility also exists that rapists will "test" to see if the woman is wearing this device by using an object and then rape her using their penises.
I agree with the above statement...

It's pretty sad that society has fallen to the stage where way too many people will "look out for number one" and too few will look out for their neighbour. Then we think we can solve these problem with "hardware" - be it barbed wire fencing around schools, anti-rape condoms, snub-nosed .38's, stealth bombers...
Maybe if we spent more time teaching our kids about things like respect for others and responsibilities rather than "your rights in society" (which the average teenager reads as "no-one can make you do anything you don't want to"); or if our pop heroes were actually worth emulating...
General point of rant: If we all looked after our responsibilities, our rights would take care of themselves.
