Default Wikipedia Articles related to Shorinji Kempo

    Gassho,

There is a lot of information relating to Shorinji Kempo and the founder Kaiso floating around on the internet. Recently I've become interested in the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. I've used it for many years to research various topics, and have only just become interested in editing it myself.

I think it would be great if the Shorinji Kempo community could do their part and create some informative Wikipedia articles related to Shorinji Kempo so that curious web surfers have an opportunity to learn about the history and philosophy of the movement.

Currently the english language wikipedia has a basic article on Shorinji Kempo located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shorinji_Kempo

I think a good starting point would be to expand this article with aspects of the philosophy of Shorinji Kempo and some information on the organisation of the techniques.

There is also a lot of information relating to Kaiso, one very good resource I've found is http://www.uwesu.net/shorinji/hist.shtml and a collection of Kaiso's essays and speeches at the WSKO website is available http://www.shorinjikempo.or.jp/wsko/kaiso/index.html .

I think maybe an article located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_Doshin would be appropiate which could then be linked with the article on Shorinji Kempo.

Any and all comments from other Shorinji Kempo practitioners would be great. Either respond here, or leave a message on my talk page at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jpowell .

    Kesshu,

p.s. for anyone not familiar with the concept of a wiki then Wikipedia itself has a good introduction located http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

I'm adding this to my list of "Things to do at work when theres no work to be done", along with something else I'll mention on here later that is very, very cool (IMO).

How far are we allowed to go with something like the wiki though? Are we for example able to put most of the basic principals and characteristics available elsewhere on the internet like Rikiaifuni, Gojuittai, Kumiteshuutai etc on there? What are we not really allowed to list?

And most importantly, is there a decent source for the new symbol that can be used legally?

I believe the historical content that is currently posted on the Swedish Federation web site is the most complete and reputable. Certainly I would start from there.

I think it would be wise to ask Hombu, which articles can be posted on Wikipaedia, together with an explanationv of what Wikipaedia is.

The Japanese section is a bit bigger, and has a good overview of history, teachings (good body etc), explanations of its relations to Kongo Zen, run down on the federations and the meanings of the markings etc, explanation of embu, writeup on Busen, famous/noted Kenshi, even a bit about the manufacturors of the Shorinji branded uniforms and equipment.

Its not as exciting as it sounds, mainly people that are well known who are also kenshi. I'm pretty bad with names, so bear with me a bit.

Komura, Masahiko: Lower House MP and supporter of Shorinji within the Diet, previously branch manager of the Chuou University Shorinji Kempo club. (4th Dan). Even has a cool website - http://www.koumura.net/

Ishihara, Nobuteru: Lower House MP, Keio University Manager

Nobushi, Sho: Film Producer and Director

    Rikiya: Actor (5th Dan)

    Kakei, Toshio: Actor

    Mizuno, Miki: Actress

    Amuro, Namie: Singer

Kikuta, Hiroyuki: Manga Artist, "Osu Shorinji!" and "Ganba! Fly High" series

Itagaki, Keisuke: Manga Artist, "Grappler Hakiba", "Baki", "Garouten" series

    Thats more or less correct....

Thanks Leon. Any trivial morsels of information can be a feast to those of us starving outside the castle gates... read: Japan-based Kenshi can get a lot more printed material - albeit of varying relevance - than Kenshi in far-flung places. It is good to have some E-Budo Ninja willing to smuggle some of the rations out.

    I looked up the actors on IMDb;

    野伏翔:演出家、映画監督
Nobushi, Sho: Film Producer and Director
    Couldn't find a match.

The English always makes it more exciting that it really is Though that "Spanking Love" sounds like it has potential....

This link is obviously written by a Seigido ryu practitioner. The reference to "Lutte Contact" is interesting. I was not aware of this group or of it being derived from SK. What is it with the French and forming splinter groups?

    very very interesting.
