Kata and a tour of the Bowen History of Judo Archive
I know, this should go into the Announcement forum, but I figured more people interested in this sort of thing would look here than look there. Anyway, for those of you living in UK who are also interested in kata and/or British judo history, then the following represents a seminar of potential interest:
Date:- April 9, 2006
Time:- 1.30 - 4.30 pm
Address:
The Dojo,
Sports Training Village,
University of Bath,
Bath BA2 7AY
The presenters:
Kano Society Sensei will be John Cornish 7th Dan.
Director of Judo at the University of Bath is Mike Callan 5th Dan.
University of Bath High Performance Coach is Roy Inman OBE 8th Dan.
The seminar is free, but advance registration is requested. Contact: sensei@kanosociety.org .
Description (I'm quoting here):
* Watching judo video of archive material including our new Video of the life of Koizumi We will also have available Dickie Bowen's interview and some classic judo footage -
* Watching and comparing some of the latest footage of Olympic Judo from Fighting Films.
* Learning the less known Katas.

You can get full details of the event from the Kano Society website at:
http://www.kanosociety.org/kanoframe.htm
Look under 'News' - then 'Kata Course'.
I suspect that the kata on offer will be Goshin-jutsu and Kime-no-Kata.
John Cornish is very knowledgable on these kata.....
