    Default Question on a name/title

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but it was posed by a friend of mine and I, of course, did not know the answer. Here is her question:

Does anyone know what "Soho" (for Takuan Soho) means? Is it a religious
title or other form of respect? Did he receive it as early as being made
abbot of Daitokuji in Kyoto or as late as being installed by the shogun as
    abbot of Tokaiji in Edo?

Would any esteemed members of e-budo be able to help with this?

    Default Imina

    Soho(宗彭) is Imina(諱).

The Zen priest has two names such as Gou 号 (or Azana 字) and Imina.
Gou is the one like nickname, and Imina is a formal name.
However, people usually call Gou because it is a very impolite act to call higher ranking people' imina.
