    Post Is this style possible?

Anyone that is even interested in MA’s knows of or has seen, in my
Opinion, one of the greatest MA movies of all time: Drunken Master,
Starring Jackie Chan and that old dude. If you know what im referring to,
In the movie, Jackie has teed off his father and must live and train w/
That one old dude. Well anyway, could this style actually work?
(I don’t know a lot about drinking, im under age 21) but could
The alcohol cause your mind to “loosen up” and your muscles to
Relax enough that your punches are smoother and more controlled,
And make you have a higher pain tolerance as well as higher will power?
I’m not planning on trying it to find out, just pondering.

Your muscle may loosen up but your sense of awareness , balance, and logic. Then you loses all your inhibitions, or natural limits of behavior. After more than that, your eyes can't focus, makes funny slurring sounds, lose coordination, and have mood swings. Internally your body in becomes severely dehydrated which can lead experience a headache, nausea, and dizziness.

I forgot to add. After years of training this way. You also need to sign up for some 12-steps program to balance yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, phychologically and spritually.

On the other hand, if you can do kata, especially those with jumps, while plastered, your kata while sober really improve. I believe that Harry Cook uses this method of training a fair bit, I know my sensei does.

Google "Zuijiuquan". That is a northern chinese drunken kung fu style. That is basically what you are seeing in Drunken Master 2. If you are referring to the first DM, look up Southern style drunken kung fu. That is more like the style in the first DM. HTH.

Well I don't know diddly doo about drunken kung fu, but for what it's worth; watching a bunch of ninja types get plastered and play soccer is worth the price of admission.

Wander the streets of any British town at kicking-out-time on a Friday, and you'll see plenty of drunken kung-fu.
