    Question

    Manaka Sensei,

    My questions are interrelated:
1)What are your thoughts on the relationship between swordsmanship and the test cutting of objects.

2)How much training time should one invest in testcutting as opposed to kata training?

Thank you for your valuable time,

    Brian Jones

Tameshigiri is for the purpose of cultivating a sense of real fighting. For training, you should have a proportion of 10:1. Do kata and then do tameshigiri from time to time.
