You've probably seen this. I dug it up because I thought Professor Bodiford had mentioned the RYUHA of the KENJUTSU. He didn't, but fwiw:

nice pics! , Yeh the jujutsu-part of the mentioned clips seemed to be the dominating "thing" of the kata.

Found some interesting kendo kodachi-clips. The site is in the estonian language but the clips are accessable at the bottom of the page. http://www.kendo.ee/kata.htm

Again this doesn't mean much coming from me, but I didnt know the kendo-kata used the short-sword as well.

Also, I found a site with what looks like kodachi iai. http://www.internationalsportschanbara.net/touhou.html The guy performing is " Tetsundo Tanabe". I have no idea what style/ryu he is practicing, and searches on this forum for him didnt give that much info. Is he "authentic" so to speak?

You must have missed the 8th post on page 1 of this thread, where -- back on the 20th -- the highly intelligent, well informed, and -- I must say -- extremely modest writer wrote:

Wrist/elbow immobilizations as well as some leg positioning that can be used for takedowns if necessary, so yeah some jujitsu-y-ness there, too.

I have some too in Kageryu.

There seems to have been a lot of throwing techniques in the past that went by the wayside with the Meiji era and combat was no longer done. Some of the throwing we have is more to distract the opponent and force him to keep a distance rather than acuracy in sticking it in. I have never had much opportunity to prctice the waza and we have been throwing fans as a substitute for demonstations. I am in the process of having a very sturdy 1.1 mounted with strong tsuka so that it will not get too damaged if it does not stick in a target and drops down.

    Enjoy.
A good martial artist should teach for at least as long as they were taught, but as you learn so much from your students you can never stop teaching.
