    Default Canes

I am intrigued by the cane for defense. I recently was teaching a course at the Valhalla Training Center where I observed some cane defense training. I had a chance to look at many designs of canes. I am wondering if there is a recommendation in design, and sources. I have seen what CaneMasters offers and they look great, but there are many choices from overall design, to type of material used. What are people using? Which do they prefer? Which is not recommended? What are the sources for Canes, Seminars, Videos, etc.

    Hi Sully

Here is a link for a good MA supplier of canes etc.

I believe that Savate incorporates cane amongst other weapons including chairs in their curriculum. Google Bridgeman Savate.

    Cheers

For usage, there is also Bartitsu. Tony Wolf has a whole book devoted to this topic. See http://www.lulu.com/content/138834 .

For an introduction, see http://ejmas.com/jnc/jncart_barton-wright_0200.htm . Most known links are available via Wikipedia.

The ultimate fighting canes are made and are available through Cane Masters

I have two of them and have had the privilege of attending one of Grandmaster Shuey's seminars. I also have most of his videos. Great stuff!

    Exclamation Fighting Canes

There is also an umbrella on the market. I am not talking about the sword-thingy alá (or was it ála) avengers. This thing seems to be quite nice actually: http://www.real-self-defense.com/umbrella.html
They have some valid points concerning the use of umbrella instead of a cane.

    Default Defensive Canes

    Hi All
I have been involved in martial arts for years and have been developing defensive Cane and stick DVD's. I also have Hapkido style Canes in Hardened Rattan and carved Coccus wood. The Coccus wood canes can have custom carving in them for style and defensive functioning. The all wood Hapkido style Cane is an awesome Defensive tool. Its legal in all states and can ussually be carried on a airplane. You can easily learn real practical self defense moves. For my DVD's, I borrowed various simple movements from several martial arts both Japanese and from the Phillipines. I also found some easy to use moves from "Irish Whiskey stick Dancing" I am 64 years old myself and appreciate that many people don't have years of martial arts training or are getting older. These moves can be utlized by anyone

    Default Custom Defensive canes

    Greetings all

This is a reply to a old post but worth doing. In addition to Rattan Hapkido Canes and Crocus wood Combat canes, I now offer a line of hand crafted canes in American hardwood. Ash, Oak, Hickory and Hickory with hardwoods.

Mr. Davis, I'm allowing part of your post above to stay, because it's relevant to the original post; I have deleted part of your post, however, as it violates the rules regarding commercial posts (advertising) in this sub-forum.

The appropriate place for posts containing "customer testimonials," comments about competitor's pricing, etc. is in the Nomi no Ichi subforum of our E-Budo Marketplace.

    Thank you.
    Yours in Budo,
