Default More Martial Arts Info For Those Interested

I have released another new issue as current in The Martialist. This issue focuses on survival kits as its primary theme, with plenty of other material thrown in (and a bunch of new archived articles extracted from old subscriber content).

    http://www.themartialist.com/0107/0107-free.htm

My Archives Pages are divided into multiple categories with better descriptions of each individual article, too, and the reviews section of the archives has been updated with several more new product reviews.

Here's the listing from the new issue:

I'm sorry, did I miss a substantive argument somewhere? In my defense, Will's never offered one before. There's always a first time, though. Mea culpa.

That list of articles is very S.O.F./Kingdom of Fear type stuff.

Perhaps you should actually read one of them, instead of making vague comments about how they sound.

I have read a few and they seem like they are just appealing to a certain type of person while some of them seem to be just justifying yourself by taking shots at traditional martial arts and stating that everyone's ideas, no matter how unqualified they may be, should have weight.

No Phil, you haven't missed a substantive arguement. Will stated an opinion on your magazine. You disimissed Will. Is that a dismissal of his opinion? I'm still fuzzy on this whole logic thing!

Yep. It helps the search and rescue find you quicker. From a military standpoint, completely useless.

I suppose it could come in handy as an accelerant for lighting sweet-smelling fires.

Actually, there are a few things in Phil's various load-outs that I wouldn't consider neccesary and would substitute for other items or more of an existing item, and the 'daily carry' bag is ridiculously large. But, different strokes I guess.

Producing a PDA sho'nuff would have amazed the Negritos during J.E.S.T. though, our survival kit consisted of a machete, matches, and a tarp.

Some nice street smarts there, Phil.

I love the notion of using a compass along with your street map. So much more efficient than looking at the street signs, or going into a shop and asking for directions. And of course there's no way that it will make you look like a lost, bewildered targe... I mean stranger in need of advice.

If one has a street map and eyes, I have no idea why a compass would be neccesary. Or 90% of that other crap in an urban environment - ear plugs, a poncho, and iodine tablets? What possible event is going to occur in a friggin' city which will cause all water and shelter to vanish instantly and yet not vaporize the uber-prepared traveler?
