Point to note. Daiwa Ryu in the UK, though a modern school with a name designated by the Shitennoji Temple does in fact teach the exact same Hakko Ryu syllabus, now under the guidance of Master Tanaka(former Hakko Ryu Shihan). However with a few subtle variations where the master has seen necessary for effectiveness. This is no different to USA's Hakko Ryu(under lemuel stroud), EU's Hakko Denshin Ryu, Jigen Ryu, or Japan's Kokodo Jujutsu... ALL ofshoots of Hakko Ryu founded by former Hakkp Ryu shihan when the founder's son lost his sanity.
and as anyone know's, Hakko Ryu techniques, with the exception of a few that focus on the central nervous system and shiatsu, can be plucked right out of the Daito Ryu manuals...
In the end i'd say, they're gendai schools which diligently teach koryu traditions & techniques.
