    Default Two Language Dilemmas

Firstly, how, in Japanese, is the 'J' pronounced.

    For example, the word Jujitsu..

Are the 'J's the way we would normally say a word like 'Japan' or are they softer, like the 'J' in the French name 'Jacque.'

Secondly, what exactly does Ikusa no Seki mean?

    'J' is pronounced like Japan.

Ikusa no seki is war's gate/house/seat. Many translations for seki.

As Bob Blackburn said, it's a "hard" sound, not a "soft" sound.

But, to be pedantic (which I often am), there is no "J" in the Japanese language. Except for "N" there are no single consonants, just vowels and consonant-vowel combinations; in this case Ja (Jya), Ju (Jyu), and Jo (Jyo).

Also, "-jitsu" is an obsolete romanzation. It's still seen in some old proper nouns/names, but for the most part "-jutsu" is the preferred romanization. It's similar to "Tokio" having been replaced with "Tokyo."

    Oops. I left out "Ji."
