Default Old School. Ninpo-L Where are they now?

    Hi guys,

I was just thinking about the old Ninpo-L. Anyone here remember that? Some crazy stuff happened on that list! Every morning I had to check my e-mail and see the latest goings on.

But I am wondering about some of the old names that were fixtures on the list. Where are they now?

    Scott Robbins
    Lee Drew
    Critch Jones
Kasumi (was he not Sean Gray?)
    Karl Tatgenhorst
    Elijah Meeker
    The owner Jamie etc..

Any of you old school guys here? I know George, John, Eric are here.

Ahh, see I knew I felt a shift in the matrix...

I don't get over to Kutaki very often anymore. Critch was a funny guy on ninpo-l anyone remember "aproved by critch?"
Anyone know anything about these other folks.

I remember of course Daniel, Aric, Ben, Regina, Dale...

That's also when rec.martial.arts (is that how its spelled?) was big.

I got my first PC back in 1996 I was on AOL 2.0!!! Took forever with dial up, often times It was busy and I had to wait, or I would get disconected LOL!

Wow that was so long ago it seems, I have cable now, as a matter of fact I remember Eric Weil telling me he got cable and how fast it all was, allot has happened in 11 years wow..

I remember John Lindsey's old home page and how cool I thout it was. It was cool times back then in many ways for the Ninpo groups, lots of information shared freely, videos back and forth, personal notes exchanged.

    Good stuff, fond memories...

    Default Ninpo-L

The information passed on was much better than what's on forums nowadays.

The info seemed much more fresh and real and not so much "I heard this or that".

Might be a few reasons for that.

First it was all so new.

Second allot of people with actual experience and time in the arts posted and shared. It all felt very open and grass roots. Almost everyone on there knew everyone else, or at least someone who knew someone.

Nowadays the forums are full of new people (low kyu grades, low experience or "time-in") and also just a TON of wankers.

Time has also shown that information can be used in bad ways and some people got burned.

The innocence was lost lets say

I am glad I was a part of it. It was nice times...

Ha, still on cable, I keep telling George, "where's my damn FIOS" freaking township is blocking it, I want my FIOS *pounds fists in fudoken*

Scott is alive and well, still living in the Big Apple, but isn't training anymore. If you have Linux or FBDS questions just google his page and ask.

I remember John's old page too, lots of good info back then. So much has changed since then, lots of new info still coming out, so much has been opened up, so much to be learned and shared, its great. Good to see lots of old timers still "kickin it" regardless of what Kan their in.

To think I got a pc because of ninpo, learned to type in Nihongo because of ninpo, etc.

Scott was a very nice helpful bloke. Didn't he have a Nihonjin wife?

FiOS = Fiber Optic Services and usually refers to Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP).

    Default Lee Drew

Lee is alive and well and still training from time-to-time in Birmingham, Alabama. I've tried several times to get him to check this board. I'll let him know you asked. If want his e-mail send me a PM and I'll send it to you. I think our website is on my profile (I'll check in a minute).

    Hi,

thats great news that Lee is still training and doing well. I only knew him from ninpo-L, I doubt if he remembers me. He was active on Ninpo-L back in the day

    Tell him I said hello.

I will be speaking with him this evening. We are supposed to be going to Nashville this weekend to help with an embu being put on by a dojo there. I never was on Ninpo-L, that may have been during my forced break from training (I divorced the reason for that ... another story!). I have from time-to-time come across snippets of it (and even a pic of Lee on it). I wonder if it is archived anywhere? I know that the "Ura and Omote" newsletters were and i still refer to them from time-to-time.
