Got a feeling that'd be funnier if you understand Japanese. Still, always fun, though. I've trained with people like that XD

Looks like the same family who did that "Jump" (I think it was called that) show for the royal variety performance last year, anyone remember it? The sensei looks like the uncle from that. In that show they were doing what looked like tae kwon do (the "mother") and kung fu (the others) and also used nunchaku. Lot of comedy involved. Anybody have a clue what I'm on about?

Anyway, good vid, thanks for sharing, will show it to my friend tomorrow, he'll get a kick out of that. He too has most likely trained with that kind of person

Now who says kendo doesn't feature realistic sword-play?

Hahah, I dunno, it reminded me of my Kendo days with my little brother. We'd whack each other with our shinai in random, non-scored, places, lol. "Kuchi (mouth)!!! Yaaaaaah, oshiri (butt)!!! YeeeeaaaaAAAAHHHHHH ASOKO (over there ) !!!!"

As for the cast, I have seen them before several times, but I don't know who they are exactly...

This is an old sketch from the classic variety program "Downtown to Gottsu Ee Kanji" (Feelin' Damn Good with Downtown). Downtown are a comedy duo, one half of which was the sensei, and the other was the shouting kendoka.

Part of the comedy is that he's not really shouting Japanese words, but just the Chinese readings for the kanji that represent those things.

    It goes:
Hama-chan (sensei): Yoshi, sore de wa, hajime! (Very well, begin!)
Mat-chan: Yoroshiku onegai-itashimasu. Men! Men! Dou! Men! Dou!
    Yuka! (Ground!) Yuka!
    Ten! (Ceiling!) Ten!
    Dan! (Heating!) Dan!
    Sen! (Line!) Sen!
    Sha! (Car!) Sha!
    Son! (Grandchild) Son!
    Gai! (Outside!) Gai!
Nai! (Inside!) Gai! Nai! Nai! Gai! Yuka! Ten!
    An! (Darkness!) An!
    Mei! (Brightness!) Mei! Ten!
    Rou! (Candle!)
    Haru! (Kanji for Spring!)
    Kou! (Thinking!) Kou! Kou!
    Kan! (Sweet!)
    Bei? (American?)
    Kendoka: Chigau! (Wrong!)
    Mat-chan: Ei? (English?)
    Kendoka: Chigau!
    Mat-chan: Ii? (Italian?)
    Kendoka: Chigau!
    Mat-chan: Futsu? (French?)
    Kendoka: Chigau!
    Mat-chan? Nani? (What?)
    Kendoka: Gou! (Australian!)
Mat-chan: Gou! Gou! (suddenly) Arigatou gozaimashita!
