I am thinking of learning Iaido, here in Hong Kong options are limited
so it narrows down to ZNKR iaido or Toyama Ryu
any suggestions ?
thanks

ZNKR iai - but I am biased...
Its kinda hard to give a recommendation. If you have both arts represented then check them both out. It will make your choice easier after you've seen what they are all about.Originally Posted by ARIKKO

I'm going to balance Scott out and recommend Toyama Ryu.
The Hong Kong Toyama group actually falls under Hataya Mitsuo sensei, the current head of the Zen Nihon Toyama Ryu Iaido Renmei and the Zen Nihon Battodo Renmei. They've got a pretty good web site with an incredible amount of pictures and videos buried in it ... http://www.hksword.com/index_e.php

you could always try the local kendo club and see if they have anyone else who they can recommend. One of my students is in hong kong now looking for Muso jikiden, but so far has only found a muso shinden club. there is definitely a kendo club though, which has been there for quite a while....kendo and iai should 'mix' at various events, so they will know and recommend dojos.
If you find any more, please post here so I can pass the information on to my student.

Why are you reading this instead of being out training? No excuses accepted...
