    Default Yagyu no Geino

New book coming out on the sword techniques of the Owarikan ryu published by the Shunpukan Bunko. It's entitled "Yagyuno Geino." It's not scheduled for release in Japan until 09/01. The content is very good, it has some photos and illustrations.

Russ, isn't this the same line that just published a book on Shinkage Ryu? If so, any idea how this one is different?

My opinion is, in all likelihood, worth exactly what you are paying for it.

The Kan ryu? Yes- kind of. The first book Yagyu Shinkage Ryu wo Manabu is published by a student living in the Kinki region. This one is actually from Shunpukan Bunko in Nagoya.
This was actually written/edited by Kanbei sensei years ago, now put into book form recently- with updates.
The book is discussing the Shinkage ryu from the Kan ryu, so some of it is going to be similar to the Yagyu Shinkage Ryu wo Manabu, however it goes into more details about some of the kata and thier application, and it has illustrations to go along with them as to define it better. While Yagyu Shinkage Ryu wo Manabu is geared for the beginner, Yagyu no Geino is geared towards experienced sword practicioners and exponents of Shinkage Ryu.

Well, it turns out this book is published in limited editions, so it is going to be rather impossible to get unless they reprint. From what I am told they already went through them all. BUMMER!

Well, at least people know it's out there!
