I haven't had much JSA training at all, and I could see so many flaws in that...

What was with the tameshigeri? It looked like he didn't know how to cut with the blade at all...

Those are worse than the original post imo, spent a few minutes watching em, stories about how 'master' Dodaro trained at the shaolin temple after his parents death etc...

Here's some erm...sword work and aikido I guess from those links:

Any of them ever hear of the sword leading the attack? If I attacked like that, my Sensei'd kill me, and I'm a rank amateur! He was sometimes halfway through the throw before uke even laid hands on him! Any kime'd've been nice, and I'd've loved to have seen some attacks where his sword and the rest of his body were at all unified!

And as to the many-on-one demo they did at the beginning, I've done that in karate, and it's much more interesting when they're actually trying to hit you. Those weren't attacks, they were attempts by tori to fall over uke! Sigh, when will people realize, a grab, even a weak one, isn't the attack. It's what the grab is setting you up for, like a punch, headbutt, or knee, that's the attack, and it's that you have to deal with!

    Default Is this still up?

The video seems to not be loading. Was it taken down? Or just a temporary glitch?

It seems to be working now. Although he should probably take it down.
I couldn't stand to watch the whole thing.

When that idiot came out to hold the cutting stand I thought I was going to see someone get killed on youtube.

After watching the first couple attempts at cutting, I thought he'd do better by sticking to T-Ball. That's when I shut it off.

    Default great site!

    Trevor,
what a great link! it is worth wading through some of the really bad stuff to find the fun perspective of Mikka Bouzu. I'm a convert!

    Thanks,
    Dave

just a quick note, the link now has comment approval turned on, so don't expect any non-fanboy items to show. a comment I made was deleted.

No I am not formally trained in Iaido or Tameshigiri. I cut my thumb on the first draw... Keep your negative comments to yourself! How many of you are determind enought to slice your thumb and keep going? Don't lie to yourself everyone I know who has trained with a live blade has cut themselves at least once.
I have to admit that his attitude towards criticism rubs me the wrong way-- if you are going to put yourself out on a public forum, you can expect some negative comments. Deal with it.

The fact that he has "sensei" as part of his name on youtube tells me everything that I care to know.

My opinion is, in all likelihood, worth exactly what you are paying for it.

    Default ease up?

all, got a note from the person in the vid. he basically said he was asked to put together a kata for his test, did not find anyone local to assist. at least he did not do any XMA stuff, maybe we should let it go?
... I wish to tell you that I do not mean to disrespect what a true swordsman can do but this is what I was able to accomplish without instruction in a short period of time as research for my test. If you took offense to my research, I apologize and do so to anyone with skill in the sword ...
