    Question

Help! I'm looking for a good school in Augusta, GA. I'm a Wado practitioner and would like to get a better understanding of the jujutsu side of things. It would be great if there was a Shindo Yoshin Ryu stylest there, but I know that it isn't a great possibility.

Sorry Tim, don't personally know of anything in Georgia, let alone Augusta, so I can't recommend anyone.

Here's the listing of clubs associated with the US Jujitsu Federation:
    GEORGIA

Georgia Ju-Jitsu Federation. President: Sensei Antonio M. Lopez, 1014 Cave Spring Road, Rome, GA 30161. Phone: 706-290-1811.

Jikishinkai (USA). Shihan Toshiaki Takikawa, 3924 Kilgore Falls Drive, Gainesville GA 30507 Phone: 770-965-3235 Fax: 770-965-3236 Email: totak@bellsouth.net

Lopez Martial Arts. Sensei Antonio M. Lopez, Darlington School, 1014 Cave Spring Rd., Rome, GA 30161. Home: (706) 291-9640
They may have a school in Augusta or be able to recommend someone.

    Regards

    Neil

Tim--My name is Brian Barnes. I teach Hontai Yoshin-ryu jujutsu, and I have recently moved to Augusta. If you are interested in a Koryu jujutsu, this system is a good one. For more information, please go to our website, http://www.hyrusa.com
Email me at logician@hyrusa.com or you can make a local call to me after the new year at 738-7565. Good luck in your search, and contact me if you are interested.--Brian Barnes

Go with the Hontai Yoshin Ryu, it's a very good system I can recommend it.

Sensei Barnes is no longer in Georgia. He is currently in Kentucky.

    Default Jujutsu

    Asia,

In my travels, I trained for one day at the Midori Yama Budokai school in Augusta.

    http://www.ikfkickboxing.com/ProfileMikeCarlson.htm

I trained for several years (informally) with Mike Davis, a 5th Degree black belt in Eagle Jujutsu and Eagle Kickboxing under Gary Brown Sensei (Atlanta, GA). Mike Carlson is (or used to be) associated with Gary Brown Sensei. It's not a traditional (koryu) training environment but they do very good Japanese JJ.

    Good luck.
