Itame and mokume hada

Just recently I have been told by a senior student in my class that swords which have a mixture of itame hada and mokume hada should not be used for cutting, but those swords which only exhibit only itame hada should be used for cutting? Anyone care to share their thoughts??

And swords with masame hada explode when you swing them... and don't even mention ayasugi -- they are very likely to cut the user.

And don't ever leave a blade with nashiji-hada out too long -- they soften up and mold so fast!

Thanks for all the input Keith and everyone else. I guess theres no real difference in jihada when it comes to sharpness and strength of a sword blade. What the senior student was talking about is that he believes itame hada, or ko-itame hada make a more cohesive blade, hence more suitable for cutting.

See I read that and wonder if the guy could pick up a blade and even be able to name the hada of that particular blade. I'd bet money that he couldn't.

When I swing my shinken it reduces my future enemies lives by five second per swing!
