Both are. Think about it. If I were to draw my family tree, I would have my grandfather, my father, and myself on chart. If my cousins were to draw their family tree, they might have my grandfather, then their mother (my father's sister), and then themselves. Would I say that their branch of the family were liars? No, of course not. Their family tree is correct-- for their branch of the family. Two branches of the same ryu have two different lineages, just like two branches of the same family have different lineages.
