    Default Koryu in Tokyo?

I'm living in Tokyo currently, looking for a Koryu dojo and ideally another foreign person to help introduce me to the dojo/train with if possible.

I know there are a few highly respected Koryu in Saitama and Chiba but the commuting expenses would likely strain my current budget.

Currently living near Ikebukuro on the Yamanote line.

    Thanks!

I believe there is a Suio Ryu dojo in Tokyo. Please check this link.

Check out koryu.com 's ryu guide section. There are several koryu that are based in Tokyo. Although they don't give contact info, it could help you see what's available.

Loads, go do some research. If you go digging, you'll find a bunch.

The problem is not finding dojo in as much as the problem is being a foreigner and just showing up at a dojo without any introduction doesn't usually work, even for judo or kendo, let alone koryu..

Still looking for anyone in Tokyo that does koryu, PM me if you have any info.

    Default Koryu Dojo

You can just walk in at Kondo sensei's dojo, the Shinbukan and request information. You may even observe class (if you are polite). This is a Daito-ryu dojo. You can find the contact info here: www.daito-ryu.org

sorry for being late on this... Honda senseis dojo (MJER) at Aoto (narita/tokyo line) already has some foreign students. Talk to Eric Spinelli on here, I sent him there and he is very happy!

Why are you reading this instead of being out training? No excuses accepted...

Another one for you is up in West Hachioji, a bit of a commute, but thats where I practice. It meets on Wens and Sat nights 7:30-9:30 pm. There is a dojo in Tachikawa run by Trent Sensei and his wife. Don`t know exactly where though. Good luck on your search.

No idea if the OP is still looking for a dojo, but just for information's sake, Trent sensei's dojo website is: Tsubomi Seishin Kan Yoshimoto Dojo (Japanese only).

And Tim, our dojo is quite a ways from Aoto (like 6km). It must have moved since you last came, you dinosaur. If you ever get your ass back to Tokyo, I'll show you.
