I have a friend of mine that does a form of Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu, atleast thats part of the name, the way they pronounce it, atleast. Anyway, one of my Sensei, who is a native Japanese seen his certificate, and said when he see's the kanji for the style my friend does, he reads it as ryu shin ryu, meaning willow heart style, not Yo Shin Ryu. I also looked in my Kanji dictionary, & it says Ryu, among other ways to pronounce this kanji used; However, there is no romanji for Yo. So my question is, why do they pronounce it Yoshin, when it is Ryu Shin? Is it the On pronounciation of the same kanji, or something?
