Default Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu in WV

I heard about a seminar last Fall with Kagenori Ueno of the Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu, hosted at a place called Zingg's Karate in West Virginia.

It looks like there will be another one this Spring: http://www.jigenryu.jp/component/con...-25-2010-.html

Interesting pictures here, of the last seminar. Particularly what appears to be a lecture.

What's the deal with this ryu?

    Anybody go to these seminars?

the jigen ryu guys mean SERIOUS business, if you have the means, even if you are not studying jigen ryu, go to the seminar. it will blow your mind what those guys do. they are very powerful and interesting to observe.

check out their videos on youtube if you want to see what their training is like. i'd love to train in jigen ryu but they're a bit far away in kyushu and i guess my hands are full with kaishin ryu already.

I attended the seminar. excellent stuff. if you look down the page on the link you sent, every session had a short lecture, then training. The instructors were very generous and helpful, the techniques were uniformly strong and fast. it was great fun. only criticism is that the space is fairly small. am planning to go back for the upcoming one.

Is there any truth to what I've read about Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu being the predecessor art to Jigen Ryu?

    Interesting discussion points.

I am a n00b here, but I was at the last WV demo (and will be at the next one.)

I'm interested in the two differing comments about whether Jigen Ryu came out of this style. I found a thread on e-budo (http://www.e-budo.com/forum/showthre...t=34813&page=2) that I thought explained it pretty well, but now I am confused again. My understanding was that this group moved from the Kagoshima area some time ago.

Are there two Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu groups?

    Respectfully,
    Jason Flint
