This is what is wrong with the world in a "budo" nutshell. So what if the guy has good hands and the students are brave/stupid?This might be Bad Budo material,I'll let others chime in on that one.

Might be? Cutting something on a student's body like that is a stupid parlor trick, and has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of legitimate training. It will always be Bad Budo material.

Oh yes.... I have seen that a long time ago.
The guy is doing some really fancy movings with his hands! Like from a bad Kung-Fu flic...

Sorry for my openness: Plain stupid stuff.

I was going to something sad about , why do karateka think doing karate make them a samurai, sort of thing. I'm a Goju ryu 5th dan, but that doesn't make me a swordsman. But I'm puzzled, I looked at the web-site and he claims to a practitioner of katori shinto ryu ! Then I looked farther and I find a video clip of sanchin kata, done with sai !

Strange, off-putting and dangerous....esp for his students.

Default rare ancient sam yri practice

This demo falls in there with the bed of nails and the World of the Fakir. I have seen these demos many times in the 70s with karate schools and again in the 80s with Ninja schools, even though there is no connection.
The site states the "students are not at risk" Then what is the point of this type of demo? or training? Why do it? We do tameshigiri at demos but not like this.
So where is any type of fudoshin or skill demonstrated other than to impress white belts and take their money?
This is foolish and can be dangerous!

This demo has nothing to do with Japanese Swordsmanship!
