Hi all

I was reading a period book recently (which one, I can't remember - it was a novel and might have been a Murakami) in which one of the characters was talking about "vanishing into" an attack.

He used the term to describe the total commitment that one must have when attacking - to give oneself totally over to it.

The book was originally written in Japanese and was translated into English.

Is that phrase "vanishing into an attack" an artifact of the translation or is it a phrase that actually exists (or existed) in Japanese?

I'm quite taken with it and would love to know if it actually exists.

Kind regards
Ben
