Default Discovering Aikido: Principles for Practical Learning

Don't know if anyone is out there but ... my first post here in years.

I recently uploaded my entire book Discovering Aikido: Principles for Practical Learning to my website. I stuck it in the E-Budo bookstore section of this site but thought it might merit a mention here since it is about Aikido after all ... so ... sorry about the double posting ... if anyone is watching.

My publisher decided not to reprint etc - cited recession, low volume book sales, etc, etc, so I got the Rights back. I was thinking of looking for another publisher but gave up so here it is. I have added some parts here and there, and have yet to sort some of the pictures.

Can't be many entire books out there online ...

Not that many aikido books, but for books online, try Google Books. They archived Harvard, UC Berkeley, and a couple other libraries. Millions of books, all in one place...

But anyway, yes, the Internet is a nice place to stick books and articles that are otherwise collecting dust in your drawer, and it takes up less physical space on your shelf.

Would it be possible to have a PDF for the book? I have not found one on the website and I believe it to be the most useful format for book sharing.

Just wondering - is there anybody out there?

    Is E-Budo alive?

Feel free to comment on my book or something.

    Hi Rupert,
E-Budo is alive and under new ownership, and operating in a new version of the software.
As for participation, people are just finding out that the site is back and gradually returning or signing up for new membership. Traffic here is increasing every day.

As for your book, re-posting this thread has put it at the top of the pile, so maybe some people who've read the book will notice it and pop in for a discussion.

I'll certainly check it out--not an aikido-ka myself. But always enjoy a good read.

Ah-ha: E-Budo is still here. Have spent another semester in Japan and now into my third teaching in South Korea since I was last here.

Anyway, I have spent a bit of time updating my online book if anyone is interested.

    Hello Rupert,

I obtained the book when you first published it and I believe you asked me to do a review. I never did, but now the site is up and running again, well, I might change my mind...

    Best wishes,

I just spent awhile updating my book after new ideas / insight having had another year in Japan and almost two more in Korea -- meeting and exchanging ideas with lots of people etc. I currently work at Yongin University which is famous for martial arts. I just work in the English Dept. but I do get to meet / chat / exchange ideas with all sorts of inserting people.

There are now a LOT more ideas on my website than in the original book. Check out the new updated version :-)

Hello, Rupert. Yes, some of us are here, though social media is where most people are posting, these days.
Thanks for posting the link to your updated book site. Maybe add some tags so it will come up in searches about aikido, etc., too.

Why not publish it on Amazon for the Kindle? It's easy enough to do.
